The Calm Baby RN Learning Center and web site are dedicated to supporting, educating and empowering new parents.  Whether it’s Calm Baby, Calm Mommy, Calm Daddy or Calm Family, this is the place you will find valuable tools, techniques and information on fulfilling your instinctual desire to have a calm, content and happy baby!

Calm Baby RN was started by Alisa J. Underwood, RN, BSN, IBCLC, CHBE, a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Newborn Nurse Expert, Prenatal Educator, OB/GYN Nurse and, most importantly, mom to Lainey, Billy and Evie. While working as a NICU nurse, Alisa was known for perfecting ways to keep premature babies calm and comfortable.

Lactation and Newborn Care Consultations

Just as each pregnancy is unique, each experience with each child is unique. At Calm Baby RN, we love and understand newborns and babies. We make lactation consultation house calls or you can choose to come to our office. We offer to assist you in your home, with that first bath and nail cutting session, too! The Calm Baby RN Learning Center, located in West Orange, NJ is the place parents-to-be and new families come to be encouraged, educated and connected to information, techniques and resources focused on happy, healthy, calm family life. 

Mommy & Me Play Groups at Calm Baby RN Learning Center are special times for moms to share, chat and relax in a safe, comfortable, nurturing environment.

Classes & Playgroups

Calm Baby RN Learning Center provides classes for every stage of pregnancy and early child development. From pre-conception to 12-months of age, we have classes, playgroups and resources for every stage! Our clients’ needs are important to us. For that reason, we are always adding new classes. Labor Support & Newborn Care Specialists

Being a Calm Mommy & Calm Daddy begins before your baby is born. At Calm Baby RN we want to provide everything you need to be calm, comfortable, informed and supported. For that reason, our Birth Doula provides Labor Support during the birthing moments (or hours!) and Postpartum Doula provides help caring for your newborn during the day or night and will also support breastfeeding moms, do some light housework and prepare some meals.
